Dr. Zanny Begg is an artist, curator, theorist and lecturer at UNSW Art and Design. Her research areas include socially engaged practices, border politics, critical spatial politics, adatable architecture, making art in public space and experimental curatorial practices.

She was the director of Tin Sheds Gallery, at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning, Sydney University from 2010 to 2014, where she curated a number of exhibitions that probe social and political space, working with artists such as raumlaborberlin, Marjetica Potrč, Richard Goodwin, Clement Valla, Democracia, Jorge Oteri-Pailos, Daniel Boyd and Claire Healy and Sean Cordiero. As part of her work at Tin Sheds she curated a year-long exhibition program called Emergen/City  in 2013 (emergencity.net) which included the exhibition Baadlands: An Atlas of Experimental Cartography. In 2011 she co-curated, with Dr Lee Stickells, The Right to the City, at Tin Sheds Gallery and in 2009 she co-curated, with Keg de Souza, There Goes The Neighbourhood, Performance Space. In 2014 Zanny was invited to curate a project at the Secession, Vienna as part of Utopia Pulse - Flares in the Darkroom. Her project Salon Fluchthilfe will tour to Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart in 2015.

Zanny has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas including The List, Cambelltown Arts Centre, 2014, Utopia Pulse – Flares in the Darkroom, the Secession, Vienna, 2014, Ok Video Festival, Jakarta, 2013, Things Fall Apart, Artspace Sydney, 2012, Social Networking, Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, 2012, the Berlin Biennial, 2012, eva International, Limerick Biennial of Visual Art, 2012, Sharjah Biennale, United Arab Emirates, 2011, What Keeps Mankind Alive, Istanbul Biennale, 2009 and the Taipei Biennial, 2008. In 2015 she will conduct an artist residency with Powerhouse Youth Theatre, Fairfield. In 2014 she completed a three month residency in Reiby Juvenile Detention Centre, a maximum security prison for young people, Sydney. She was invited to Barcelona for an Australia Council Residency (2012), Indonesia for an Australia Indonesia Institute Residency (2011),Chicago for a residency with Mess Hall (2010), Indonesia for an Asia-Link Residency (June 2008) and Hong Kong for an Australia-China Council Residency (May 2007). Her work is held in the Cruthers Collection of Women's Art, Campbeltown Arts Centre and the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art collections.
